NAME

BACKGROUND - Specify a background device for the editor

SYNOPSIS

BAC [<cellname>]

DESCRIPTION

This command allows any device to be used as a background. The origin of the background device will be in the same location as the origin of the device currently being edited. The device specified as the background device will display with the same parameters as the current edit device, but none of its components can be selected for edit operations. This is a display only option. One possible use is to create special grid devices for custom layouts or forms, without the form being a part of the device.

If <cellname> is specified, that particular device is displayed in the background. If <cellname> is not specified, no background device will be displayed.

The use of a background device is completely invisible to all editor functions. In particular a WINDOW command with the fit option (:F) will only fit the edited device, not the (possibly larger) background device.
