Not to belabor the discussion on bog water, but some CP's do
thrive in mineral rich environments. D. linearis, P. grandiflora, and S.
purpurea are all growing quite well for me in a fen type arrangement I've
developed, which circulates water through a limestone gravel container
and then pumps it over my plants. D. rotundifolia, P. vulgaris, and U.
intermedia also thrive in mineral-rich waters. The fens occur often
around calcareous seeps. The mosses in these fens are not sphagna, at
least not those found at water level. Marl, a calcium rich deposit,
forms substantial amounts of the growing substrate. So, some CP's can
survive in very hard waters.
Has anyone received the winter issue of CPN, or the fall either.
I have not and was wondering if mine had been lost in the mail.
Following in that vein, I was wondering if any notices had been
posted for a meeting of the Eastern CP society this summer. I wouldn't
want to miss it. Bye.
