Last year I was on a symposium on CP's in Bonn (Germany). In one of the
lectures someone showed a photo of a pitcher shaped leaf of Plantago major
(plantain). The deformation was caused by herbicides. It proves that a
conversion from the normal leaf form into a pitcher doesn't demand a huge
evolutional 'jump'. It also indicates the way pitcher plants were formed in
evolution.
