Will,

Those "bunches of little black teardrop shaped things" are indeed VFT
seeds. Once you see the seeds, they are ready to harvest, because the
membrane covering the "seed pod" has ruptured. Within a short time,
depending on weather, the seeds will begin to spill out on their own.
Simply cover the seed pod with a plastic baggie and squeeze the seed
pod. The seeds will pop out. A well-fertilized flower may contain 25 or
so mature seeds. Then simply sow the seeds on top of moist peat (or
peat/sand). Do not cover the seeds with "soil", just let them stay on
top of the moist media. Within a few weeks, the seeds will germinate. It
takes about 3 years before the seedlngs mature to flowering stage.
