I made very good experiences with imidacloprid, too.
It killed all pests so far and I found no traces of harm to my plant.
(Not on me or my cat eigther...)

For a smaller problem than a scale-invasion in a hole greenhouse I found
the quite new (German) Bayer-spray containing imidacloprid (simply
called 'Gegen Schaedlinge') very useful.
