As you already said, just change the el-cheapo solenoid to get rid of the
noise. It's not dangerous. You are using alternating current. That
introduced an aternating magnetic field in the solenoid. The inner parts of
it are not as solid as you would like and something is capable of moving/
trembling with the magnetic field inside. That's what you hear.
Little chance that you can fix that.
