Subject: Murud

The message on G. Murud I wrote on Sunday evening, as we
arrived home the same morning. In the mean time I have looked at
my own plants, read some books (again) and looked at some
pictures. I might have been to fast in my comments on the n. sp. A
(or n. sp. Murud). I now tend to believe that one of the parents is
indeed n. stenophylla, the other being most probably n. veitchii.
The leaves of the n. stenophylla resemble (some) of the leaves of
the n. sp. (and they are not necessarily the same as the n.
stenophylla from Bareo, which according to some people should be
n. fallax). I have not seen n. veitchii, but it grows on G. Mulu, G.
Batu Lawi and the plains around Bareo, which are all in the vicinity.
The n. veitchii on G. Mulu grows purely epiphytical, and I only saw
one plant there thanks to a guide of the National Park. Anybody
who has been on the ridge of G. Murud will appreciate the dense
mossy forrest and he difficulty of spotting anything in the trees.
Anybody attempting to make a description of the species might
take the above in account.
Regards,
