Subject: Coconut shell

Yesterday, I saw a commercial soil alternative/additive being sold as
"shredded coconut shell" in a hardware store. It claims that this material
expands 3-4 fold when wet, has good drainage and has a PH of 5.4. Any ideas
whether this can be used for CP's (alone or mixed)?
