Hi, Jay,
I'm sure you take this precaution, but just in case you don't (or for
others who might not): I collect rainwater in a small separate
container from my storage containers. I find that a small rainfall
will wash all sorts of garbage into my container, resulting in dirty
water that I just discard. A good hard downpour, however, will wash
through that smaller container quite a few times, resulting in nice
clear water that I then transfer to my storage container. It COULD be
contaminated with copper for all I know, and I think I will test mine
(it can be tested with aquarium testing supplies), but at least it's
a lot cleaner than the first water that comes off my roof.
