Want to second Phil Wilson's advice about D. cistiflora culture ... don't
force dormancy!

I'm in my second year of growing several forms of D. cistiflora from seed
(germinated December, 1996). To date, the plants have yet to go dormant, and
show no sign of slowing down (two forms, "red" and "pink, 49 cm" are now just
starting to grow their upright stems, as opposed to the juvenile rosettes.).
