Dear Ide,

I have a feeling that the traps are pressure sensitive. As the trap
grows, it wants to maximize its catch since it can only work a
limited number of times. Thus, in the name if efficiency, the larger
traps are not as easily stimulated. You also observed that the trap
close only partially. This is because, the trap wants to allow small
insects to leave so that it can reopen and trap bigger prey.

good luck with your VFT,
