Subject: Bay Area CP meeting?

Hey folks,

I know there's a meeting of the Bay Area Carnivorous Plants Society on
the 13th of November, but I don't have a time or a place. If anyone on
the list has that information, could you send it to me?

In other news, as many of you know, I just started growing CPs
recently, but I seem to be doing pretty well - nothing has died yet, and
everything actually appears to be thriving, even my nepenthes. In fact,
I have a drosera binata dichotoma giant that put up 4 new leaves last
week, after they all died off from the travel when I first got the
plant. Now it looks like it wants to flower, too!

What do d. binata flowers look like? Should I let it flower or nip it
in the bud? I'm actually really enjoying the plants so far. I got
aphids on one of my d.capensis, but a night's soaking underwater and it
all seems fine now. I just put all my VFTs (except the seedlings) out
on the patio to go dormant, as well as all my sarrecinia except one s.
purpurea (It's growing really well, I wanted to let it grow another
pitcher or two before I let it go dormant..)

All the sundews are doing nicely, and my utriculara (I think it's livida
- Little white flowers and no 'bunny ears' - am I right?) Is starting to
flower as well. My d. adelade has put up another flower scape too.

On the worried note, none of the sarrecinea or VFT's were showing any
red. I'm hoping that I have enough light for them. I've got 3
flourescent tubes right over the terrarium, on a 14-hour light
schedule. Is that enough?

I don't have any Pings, so I can't make any mistakes with them yet. :)

Happy growing!
