Subject: vft question

My venus fly trap did not really have a "dormancy period" as such this
winter.. i kept watering it and it died back a little.. it has since grown a
little more, but not in the profusion i was expecting.. i've never had a vft
last through the winter before ;) also, most of the newer traps are so
little.. 1/3 the size of the previous year's traps.. could anyone out there
tell me what is wrong??
