superthrive

Hello Folks,
I have done what has been refered to as meaningful experiments
with Superthrive. Two lots of D. capensis, all from the same seed lot, in
the same mix, side by side on the window sill, with the left hand plants
being swapped with the right hand plants weekly. The original left hand
plants were given Superthrive in reccomended dosages, the right hand
plants were not. I had this lot going for a year. Results....NO
difference at all.
I have noticed that to produce noticable results, like strange
warping of foliage etc..that dosages have to be greatly increased. This
is different though from strictly comparing plant reactions in proper
conditions.
This comparison I also did with Sarracenia seed/seedlings for a
year. No amazing results either, just that all of the plants looked the
same.
Do I still use Superthrive? You'ld think not but then you would
be wrong. I use it at about 1 cap full to a gallon as a spray to wash the
last vestiges of soil away from the roots of the plants I ship out to
folks out there. I also do this to plants I get in. I haven't gotten
around to comparing them with plants not sprayed to determine levels of
transplant shock, its duration and speed of recovery etc.. but I will.
And regardless of the results I will continue to use it in this fashion
'just in case'.
I also wanted to let folks know, I still have lots of large
Nepenthes I wish to send somewhere.
Good growing
Andrew
