Sodium Chlorate (I), a particularly potent weedkiller (wholesale only in the
UK) makes good fireworks, an probably bombs too (I understand the IRA have
been known to mix it with Ammonium Nitrate...)

At a private Nov. 5th party (in the carpark of the Royal Greenwich Observatory
in Cambridge!), one particular guy did bring a treacle-tin NaClO & sugar
firework with him. Most excellant!
The amusing thing, was a.) this guy was a co-discoverer of the ozone hole,
b.) he'd been on "Blue Peter" 2 weeks before, and was still wearing his
"Green Blue Peter Badge" for Environmental Awareness...
