I don't feed them at all.

My experience is that any manipulation of the leaves will cause brown
spots. Untouched in a sealed container, individual leaves can live for
a year in perfect condition. Eventually the plant will send up root
suckers near the edge of the glass bowl. This is an ideal way to propagate
these plants. (This hint is originally from Tom Johnson).
