Matthew:

I was going to add some comments in my note to you about CP's here in
Tampa. Sorry I forgot. Anyway, a large variety of CP's do very well
here, including VFTs. First, I grow them both indoors and out. In both
cases they are standing in shallow water (about 1/4 inch deep), and
receive lots of light. This time of year, particularly with the cold
snap we are experiencing, you can expect them to significantly slow down
and go mostly dormant. I reduce the water level and for those inside
reduce the light cycle slowly from 18 hours to about 12 hours. If they
are kept too wet you might not realize the damage until spring when they
will not begin producing new growth, but instead will rot away. If you
got plants from Frank's or WalMart etc., enclosed in one of those little
plastic pots, you might also have to watch the humidity. I would
suggest keeping the plastic dome on for awhile and providing lots of
light. Wilting seems to me to be associated with dramatic changes in
humidity or water.
