Pings die after flower

Why is it that everytime I have a Ping flower, the leave tips and then 
entire leaves turn brown and die?  This starts in a matter of hours once the 
bloom begins to die.  I have several that have not flowered and continue to 
look quite healthy.  Should I prevent them from flowering by cutting off the 
flower stalk when it makes an appearance?  The species is the most common 
sold in the U.S.
Also, does anyone have gifs or jpgs of pings.  I have another that has sort 
of rectangular leaves that arch out of the rosette, and I don't know the 
name.  The leave edges do not curl up at the edges.  Some leaves are pinkish 
as well.  I have looked through many books.
