I was recently thumbing through a housplant book in a
well known book store chain here on the east coast when I came
across an entry for Nepenthes.
I was quite surprised by the entry. It had a lovely
color photo of what looked like an N.truncata hybrid. What
was even more interesting though was the suggested planting
medium:

composted cow manure
leaf mold
fern roots
sphagnum peat moss

I would have never thought of using such stuff. I would think
that it would be much too rich. The high level of
biodegradable material would provide a varitable smorgasbord
for a carnivorous plant. Any comments on this mixture?
