I suppose most of us have grown the _Mimosa pudica_ sensitive plant at one
time. But how many of you have grown its not-too distant cousin, the
Telegraph Plant _Desmodium motorium_? This legume has leaves with three
leaflets, one large central leaflet flanked by two smaller ones. The smaller
leaflets will jerk up and down at will, and without any touch-stimulus. The
plant does this when it is healthy and in good sun. It is rather short-lived
in the manner of the _Mimosa_, and is rather hard to get. Seeds would be a
good find.

Oh, and how large do ant-lions get? Wellll, have you ever seen Star Trek II,
the Wrath of Khan?
