Re: D. coccicaulis flowers

Jan:

I'm surprised the _Genlisea_ has not germinated yet. I have gotten
speedy germination the old stone-age way (i.e. dropping the seeds on
wet Sphagnum). But I also have done this with plenty of seed, so
perhaps I actually have a low germination rate.

I'm not too good at remembering smells, but if I recall, the
_P.primuliflora_ smells sugary-nectar, while _P._planifolia_ smelled
rose-like, and _P.lutea_ more perfumey. See, I'm not too good at this.
But to answer John's question, I think the latter two are definitely
perfumed.

I pollinated all the flowers, especially since I promised you (Jan) some
spring seed some time ago for the _Genlisea_ seed you sent.

Doug: I am intentionally bad at growing _Nepenthes_ (to keep them small)
but I have had a few species flower in small terraria. (I keep 13 plants
crowded in a 20 gallon terrarium!) I don't know about the ethylene.

Egads! pink vs. purplish? Jan, I'll send you some damned seed so you
have to grow it yourself.
