Subject: More Bog Destruction in Florida

It is sad to report yet another bog is currently being destroyed in Fort
Walton Beach, Florida. I have been driving past it every day going to and
from work. The land has been for sale for over a year now and just the other
day bulldozers were unloaded. Today 50% of the bog had been cleared. The bog
had a healthy population of Sarracenia psittacina along with several hundred
nice S. flavas including red veined varieties. This is only the third lot in
this area to be developed in the last year. It was the wettest piece of
ground in the area and the last decent stand of pitcher plants along this
road which is in town and commercially zoned. Two months ago a new
convienient store went up but the lot was free from CP. Before that a housing
development went up in a 30+ acre area nearby which had S leucophylla, flava
and psittacina.
