The drought here in central Georgia - a few miles southwest of Atlanta -
is extremely severe! A few places within 10 miles or so around here have
received 1-3" of rain in June (nothing so far in July), but I've had to
measure the rain in hundreds of drops rather than hundredths of an inch! (I
swear there's a huge dome over this area that prevents rain!) All told, since
'98, this area is close to 3 FEET below normal! Luckily (?) the only CPs in
this immediate area are Utrics, and as long as the ponds and lakes retain
some water they'll be fine.
My bogs are another story. I use well water (great in this area! goes
through granite instead of limestone) and the lowered water table has me and
others worried about the wells drying out. So, the bogs only get watered
about once every two weeks. So far, they've acclimated well. My S.
psitticina does look odd, though. The pitchers are flat, green and erect,
not swollen, reddish and supine. I know they like to be completely submerged
at times, so could this be the result of less water?
Anyway, if anyone out there has 'supernatural contacts', SEND SOME RAIN!!!

Dan
