The depicted plant is growing in an overgrown bog on private land. Here (near its type locality) Sarracenia purpurea burkii occurs together with S. leucophylla and S. psittacina. All species are scattered throughout a fairly large area that might benefit from a prescribed burn. Large stretches of nearby roadsides are almost devoid of pitcher plants, and poaching may account for this.
