Subject: CA!N : THE ABLER GUY

Dear All

In response to my previous rendition about Peat & Sand in regard to
the Venus Flytrap I
glad to report that I have now acquired two 25 Kilogram bags of
K140 [early Christmas Present].

I am very excited about this product - from an edaphic point of
view it looks most promising and can't wait to trial this material
over the Christmas season. It may turn out to be the advance we're
all been looking for, in terms of improving the way and ease with
which we cultivate our plants.

On another point I have received a number of renditions of the
following formulation that I believe appeared in an earlier Digest
this year as what I can only describe as a SPOOF! Well at the
prescribed concentrations anyway:

"1 tablespoon of baking soda in 1 gallon of water. Because a
plant is dying from to low of a pH. For the Venus Fly Trap 1
gallon of
water 1 tablespoon of sink liquid detergent, 2 tablespoons of corn
cooking
oil, and 1/2 of a teaspoon of salt.
Water once a week during the winter. In the Fly Trap
Concoction the oil prevents dehydration and the liquid soap keeps
the
veins open. The FTCo also is good when transplanting, it stimulates
the
hairs to grow on the roots. A lot of it place on anything other
than the VFT tends to
impede the air penetration through the root system."

Presumably the added detergent is meant to 'emulsify' the added
"Cooking Oil" but still,
the concentrations seem to be 'way-over-the-top' and I feel
confident that death of your prized VFT would ensue after only a
few weeks of using this formulation, if that.
