Subject: Utric losing traps

Hey Listmembers!

Yet again another question for you. I've got an aquatic Utric that I'm
assuming to be U. gibba. I've noticed that only the first few inches of
the plant (new growth) is producing traps. I understand that a trap
has a limited life, but old growth doesn't grow new traps after it loses
the older ones? I have several strands of the plant and the longest one
is over 12" (35 cm) long. Is that normal? Any suggestions would be
greatly appreciated.

Thanks a million
Will
