Subject: Aldrovandra growing conditions

Does anyone know just what sends aldrovandra into dormancy?
Temperatures or photoperiod? I am hoping to score some in the near
future and try it outdoors, with no idea whether it will go dormant
or not. I believe I'll be getting temperate japanese material.
Temperatures here might get as low as zero C (low 30s F) once or
twice in winter, but no hard frosts.
Also, any comments on minimum the volume of water it needs to grow?
I've only seen it in big tanks.
