Subject: D.sp."Compada Diamantina"

To all,

This is just to clear up a confusion regarding one of my
native Brazilian sundews. Matt from NY, asked what D.sp."Compada
Diamantina" was. The correct spelling for this is "Chapada Diamantina".
This is the name for a group of highlands in the interior of the state
of Bahia in NE Brazil. There are some beautiful places to see there,
great views and waterfalls, as well as lots of interesting CPs.

I am not sure which sundew your D.sp."Chap.Diam."is, since
tehre are several which grow there: D.communis, D.montana var.montana,
D.m.var.tomentosa, D.chrysolepis, D.hirtella var.hirtella, and a few
unnamed weirdos.

If your plants originated indirectly from seeds I sent out
years ago (distributed by Allen Lowrie mostly), then it is probably a
D.villosa-complex species I found there in early '93. Describe to me
what your plants are like, or send me a phot or leaf and I'll identify
it for you. Sorry to all for the name mixups!

All the Best,
