 Greetings Trev,

Sounds like a fungus problem to me. The fungus rots the new growth and
produces white spore cases on the surface of the dead leaves. After
fungicide, try less plants and more ventilation. VFT do better when
they have plenty of fresh air are not too wet, so you could reduce the
amount of water in the tanks and move the VTF to higher ground if the
tank is landscaped. I have given up on growing VFT in tanks because of
the same problem, but I am now considering growing them in a well vented
pet container that I have recently used for fish.
