Ticks are not pleasant but you might be overreacting a bit. You can put
on various types of repellant that will keep the ticks off, and just
getting a tick doesn't mean that you will get Lyme disease. The tick has
to be on you for an extended time as well - like 12 hours - to actually
transmit it. So if you use a good repellant, put your socks up over your
cuffs, and check yourself well when you get back, you ought to be fine. A
dusting with sulfur is also effective and you can use it as extra
protection.
