        The tips of a purpurea stay greener/or red longer with water
in them.
        Also if your neigborhood has mealy bugs, and they find some of
your roots, the water in the pictures helps the picture live through the
bug infestation. If your purpurea still wants to bite the dust, apply
some kept moist Canadian peat, right in the middle. Remember that people
on this list have said and I agree, you can keep purpurea soil at water
level.
