Dear Jure Slatner,

Writings by those contemporary with the description of the Venus Fly Trap
said the plant was called Venus because of the beauty of its flowers.

Recent research by McKinley indicated the name was actually earned because
of imagined similarities between the trap blades and certain anatomical
features of the goddess of amore.
