Subject: but what do the plants do

so... now i am totally confused where i was not

i learned that plants got their energy during periods of light by
photosynthesis. this resulted in the elimination of oxygen as a waste
product.

at night, with the lack of light, traditional energy release takes
place. ie, stored food, with enzymes and oxygen releases carbon dioxide.

is this still the case, or did all the plants suddenly go on strike?
:)
