Not so, we've talked about some Nepenthes catching viruses from
Orchids, or at least viruses well known to Orchid growers.

Sounds very much like a virus. I would like to try one of these
affected VFT's...

You won't, yet anyways. Since CP culture is so very grass roots
in nature (no money is riding on it, unlike the Orchid industry)
you'll find very little information on pests and such. Not to
mention, when someone's plant dies after looking a bit odd, they're
likely to think they did something wrong, not that a virus was the
cause.
