To all,

>When I mulled over joining the ICPS, the cynics told me that it was just an
>American society with a pretentious name

If I remember well, when the ICPS began, the only other existing
CPS was the Japanese one, so I really don't see this name as being very
pretentious. It was probably what they hoped at the time and I guess it
probably is the most international among the now existing CPS's. To me the
British CPS was much more pretentious in adopting the name "THE
Carnivorous Plant Society". There were already other societies when they
started so why "THE" and not the "British" or "English" or whatever.
