One of the biggest problems for a novice like myself is how to control
algae, which thrive on light and nutrients in the water. I have tried various
tactics to control the algae but none of them have proved satisfactory.

I think Adrian Slack mentioned using Azolla to cut down surface light.
As my utrics get a lot of side light, I wanted to try submerged plants.
Currently I am trying Myriophyllum Elatinoides, a small milfoil from
the southern hemisphere which enjoys acid conditions, and early
indications are promising.

Has anyone else tried companion planting? If so, what plants did you
use and how successful was it?

Is M. Elatinoides the proper botanical name? That is what it seems to
be sold as commercially, but M Quitense seems to have been published
a couple of years earlier.

Does anyone know where I might obtain Wolffia Arrhiza (a European
supplier would be preferable)?

Good Growing, Nigel Hurneyman
