My ignorance is showing

Attention tissue culture buffs. . . in Rick Walker's Tissue Culture slide
show (walker@opus.hpl.hp.com) reference is made to "2iP" in the section on
CP Tissue Culture Formulas and References. Can anybody tell me exactly
what this is?
On a more general note - would anyone care to pass on their experiences in
respect to treating water for general CP use? My hothouse has an overhead
misting/fogging system installed, but I am presently using untreated
town's water. My plants appear healthy enough . . . do I really need a
pretreatment??? Town's water seems to be of pretty good quality here -
Chlorine level low (from an oldfactory assessment). Using distilled water
would send my electricity bill through the roof. Deionizers have the
inconvenience of requiring constant regeneration. Rain water would be fine
during the wet season but I would need an enormous reservatory to cater
for the long dry season.
