Do your bogs have standing water? Or maybe you have standing water in
containers in your greenhouse? I have the same problem with mosquitos
outside my house since they are breeding in the standing water used for some
of my cp's. I plan to try cheap fish from a pet store or a local canal.
Since this is my first interaction with members of this list, I'd like to
introduce myself. I'm David Mellard, live in Atlanta (USA), and have been
growing cp's for several years. I'm trying to concentrate on Sarracenia
and have created my first outdoor bog this summer.
I have degrees in microbiology and toxicology and at one time in my career
spent 10 years culturing mammalian cells doing cancer research. At last I
get to use that experience for really fun things since I'm starting a tissue
culture lab in my basement. Setting up the lab will cost me about 250 US
dollars.. Of course, my hood will be an old aquarium turned side-ways with
saran wrap on 1/2 of the open end. It should work ok since when I was doing
cell culture, we didn't have laminar flow hoods, so my aseptic technique had
to be very good.
The tc lab is actuallyl for orchid culture, particularly paphiopedliums and
cyprepediums, but I may try cp's as I learn more about their tissue culture
requirements and techniques.

Help!!!!!!!! I am being attact
I have an 8 x 10 x 12 greenhouse, with 3 bogs inside. Everytime I go in
I get attacted by mosquitoes. Is there anything that can be placed in
the bog to kill the blood suckers.
Thanks
