In Virginia, we have a lot of chiggers in and around woods. They
irritate the skin when they bite you and you don't even know it until
you start itching like crazy. Once they bite you, you can expect a
FULL week or two or even longer, of pure itching HELL. there is really
no way that I can explain the itching except that it is considered
painful because it won't stop. It's kind of like poison ivy without
the water bumps. Just thinking about these chiggers makes me start to
itch, sooo I'm out of here.

No, chiggers are tiny mites that borrow into skin and look like
a red dot. They show up under your waist band a lot. I've never
had them and I don't know where they're from or talked to anyone
who's had them or even seen one. You know what? I don't feel
like I'm missing much. ;)
