I recently ran across some photographs that may be of interest in
_Succulent and Xerophytic Plants of Madagascar_ vol 1 by Werner Rauh
(Strawberry Press, 1995). On page 31 is a photograph of a swamp near
the southeastern coast of Madagascar with many Nepenthes
madagascariensis plants growing in tall grass. On the next page is a
closeup of a plant and an inset showing a single pitcher. These
photographs surprised me, because I was under the impression that N.
madagascariensis was a highland plant. On page 204 is a photograph of
Coleochloa setifera patches which grow on granite slopes, and a closeup
of Drosera madagascariensis which apparently grows at the edges of the
patches.

If you're at all interested in succulent plants, the rest of the book is
well worth browsing. The photographs are gorgeous.

cheers,
Nick
