Dead Heads on cobra Lilys

Can anyone help? I am growing my cobra lily outside and some of the new
plants that are growing the head of the plant dies, the rest of the plant
keeps on growing,so I have a stalk with no head. I do have one plant that is
okay ( growing normally) I now have a plant with the "fangs" that are dead.
I live on Long Island, the plant is in a 5gal container with sphagnum peat
and sphagnum moss. I use rain water and water from my dehumidifier.
