As someone else already said, it's most important to know where you
are, and what the climate's like there. If I put my plants outside in
a water tray here in the UK, then they do just fine, but there's
bound to be places which are far too hot, or cold. Also, when
outside, the air blowing over the plants causes them to transpire
water at a vastly increased rate compared to the still air inside.
There's no harm in increased transpiration so long as the roots can
supply more water as fast as the leaves can evaporate it.
