JL>Remember those harmless little sciara (fungus gnat) maggots
JL>that only eat peat and/or occasionally roots?

JL>Well, I finally found out why my seedling P. caerulae were pulling
JL>a dissappearing act on me .... sciara maggots. Watched one pull
JL>a chewed-off leaf into his mouth.

Sounds like he was taking revenge for all the millions of adult gnats
that are digested each year by butterworts, when you think about it it's
quite a clever method of self preservation on his part, it insures
they'll be no sticky leaves on the surface waiting for him after he
pupates.

A eats B in the adult stage, and B eats A in the juvenile stage, one of
nature's perfect circles.

Now, if the glow of nature's miracles begins to dim as you observe this, you
might want to reach for man's chemicals...:-)

Demetrios

P.S. You could also try Hypoaspsis mites but I don't know how they'd fare
around CP.
