Hello my fine CP enthusiast companions, Barry here.

In the last month or so some significant personal tragedies have forced me
to reconsider my life's path. To facilitate this I have decided to part ways
with my extensive and beloved Sarracenia collection: a very difficult
decision. In retrospect I see I have already been doing this for the last
few years---sending people seedlings and plants from my core stock instead
of just extras---and now it is time to finish the deed.

No, I am not leaving the CP world---that would be unthinkable. I will still
be growing a few hundred species in a terrarium setting (I have three 240
liter terraria), mostly Utricularia and a few other favourites. Those who
have been asking me about my Overflow Market on the Web will see it survive
the planning stages, although in a highly modified form.

But back to the thrust of this message. Over the last ten years I have
accumulated a substantial collection that I would like to go to competent
growers. Below I have described the various plants, and their prices. If
you are interested, email me directly (do NOT send mail to the newsgroup)
your requests. I will record them in the order they arrive, and then will
apply my own personal biases to devise how I will distribute these. I am
going to impose a $30 minimum per order. More details are below.

These plants have mostly been in cultivation for several years and are
superior plants. Some have spectacular colouration, others are exceptionally
large. They are great plants. They have relatively few pests, the exceptions
being scale and thrips which are easily controlled.

If you are interested, read on.

TERMS

1: All transactions will be domestic sales to people within the US only.

2: Tell me what you want to buy, preferably via email
(bazza@indirect.com).
Do not mail to the CP newsgroup---I probably will not see it. A
thirty dollar minimum is required. I will only be selling my
Sarracenia at this time---all other sales are being put on the back
burner.

3: I will record orders on a first come/first serve basis. I will also
apply personal biases to determine who will get what.

4: I expect after a month I will have enough orders and will notify
everyone
of the outcome. At that point I will discuss shipping options. But
basically, I can ship near bare-root for minimum postage charges
(about 50 cents--1 dollar per plant) but would prefer to include some
sphagnum to increase the comfort for the plants.

5: When I receive your payment, I will send the plants. Checks or M.O.
only.

6: I will be happy to answer any questions or help with your new plants.
Good luck with them---they will grow well, but no guarantees once they
leave my hands.

Barry

P.S. The prices of some plants are high, but that reflects their rarity or
vigor or colouration.

PLANTS:

*Note the odd numbering scheme---I know some integers are skipped
*Unless noted otherwise, all crowns are flowering size
*Juvenile crowns are a few years from flowering.
*Seedlings are less than 5 cm tall.

S. alata 1---a plant with tall green pitchers bearing delicate red veins.
The flowers are cream coloured, like old lace, and are very large.
Several flowering size crowns are available for $4 each.

S. alata 2---a plant with short, robust green pitchers covered with a
dense pubescence (hairiness). Flowers are medium-large.
One flowering size crown is available for $4.

S. alata 3---a plant with tall, narrow pitchers that after a year of
uninterrupted growth become suffused with dark red pigmentation throughout.
Glorious! The flowers are cream-yellow, making a marvelous contrast.
One flowering size crown is available for $7.

S. flava 1---a sturdy plant with finely formed pitchers bearing essentially
no red colouration. While this is not an anthocyanin-free specimen, the
pitchers look beautifully rich yellow-green.
A few flowering size crowns are available for $4 each.

S. flava 2---a tall, slender plant with pitchers displaying a bold throat
splotch and veining on the interior of the pitchers. Lovely.
A few flowering size crowns are available for $4 each.

S. flava 3---similar to the clone above except the thin red veining is
visible on the exterior of the pitcher as well. The character of the red
throat splotch is also different.
Several flowering size crowns are available for $4 each.

S. flava 4---this stunning specimen is suffused with a red glow throughout
the pitcher, except the lid which is bright yellow-green and veined with
red. I will miss this Florida plant.
One or two flowering size crowns are available for $7 each.

S. flava 5---My most gargantuan Sarracenia. This plant is all green except
a red throat splotch. The first pitcher it produces each year is as large
as any I have seen---including many field trips in the wild. Another plant
from Florida that I will miss.
One, maybe two flowering size crowns, are available for $8 each.

S. flava 7---Another plant of unsurpassed beauty---this specimen is tall
and elegant, but its great attraction are the thick red veins that extend
from the ground---up the pitcher---to diverge into wild baroque reticulation
on the lid. From Florida
One, maybe two flowering crowns are available for $8 each.

S. flava 8---a variety of clones, actually, from Horry Co., SC. They are
variously veined and some show indications of copper-lids. Their true colours
have not yet emerged. Some are mature, others a few years from flowering.
Several crowns are available for $4 each.

S. flava 9---Two distinct clones from Berkeley Co., SC, each was selected
for the copper-lid colouration. Even though they are juveniles, the nature
of the colouration is appearing and looks extremely promising.
Two juvenile crowns are available for $7 each.

S. flava 14---a mere seedling that a trusted trader tells me will grow up
to be an all-red plant. From southeast NC
A single seedling is available for $3.

S. leucophylla 1---a fine plant with large pitchers suffused with green and
red veins. The flower is large and filled with the colours of a sunset. This
clone can be seen on the FAQ.
Several crowns are available for $4 each.

S. leucophylla 2---a fine plant like the first clone. The flower is slightly
smaller but a deeper cherry red.
Several crowns are available for $4 each.

S. leucophylla 3---a sturdy plant with a different character to the red
veining. It has a wider, flared mouth and hails from Chipola, Florida
One or two juvenile crowns are available for $4 each.

S. leucophylla 4---a plant notable for being suffused throughout with a
red colouration. Perhaps introgression is responsible
A single juvenile crown is available for $4 each.

S. leucophylla 9---a mere seedling touted as being `white-top'. What this
means has yet to be revealed. It is not anthocyanin-free.
A single seedling is available for $3.

S. minor 1---Typical plants yet not prone to the toppling-over syndrome
that many specimens display. Fine plants.
Several crowns are available for $4 each.

S. minor 3---Without a doubt in my mind, the single finest specimen in my
collection. This plant comes from the Okefenokee swamp and grows two or
three times as tall as normal S. minor, yet under normal light it does not
topple or become flimsy because the pitchers are so strong. This will be
the hardest plant to box and send away.
A few crowns are available for $8 each.

S. oreophila 1---a flowering size plant that bears delicate veins. This
is a very rare plant, and its price reflects it. Do not buy it if you
are not an experienced Sarracenia grower.
A single-crowned flowering specimen available for $15.

S. oreophila 2---a mere seedling-juvenile. This is a very rare plant that
hails from DeKalb Co., AL
A plant, not quite juvenile, is available for $5.

S. oreophila 4---a mere seedling-juvenile. This is a very rare plant that
is supposed to grow into a pale green, tall specimen. It comes from
Cherokee Co., Alabama.
A plant, not quite juvenile, is available for $5.

S. oreophila 6---a mere seedling-juvenile. This is a very rare plant that
hails from Center, Cherokee Co., AL
A plant, not quite juvenile, is available for $5.

S. oreophila 7---a mere seedling-juvenile. This is a very rare plant that
hails from a certain pond in Marshall Co., AL
A plant, not quite juvenile, is available for $5.

S. rubra ssp. rubra 1---A fine, typical plant originally sent to me from
Don Schnell. It comes from Columbus Co., NC.
A few juvenile crowns are available for $4 each.

S. rubra ssp. rubra 3---A vigorous clone from Ash, NC.
A single juvenile crown is available for $4.

S. rubra ssp. gulfensis 1---A strong, typical plant from Walton Co.
A single juvenile crown is available for $4.

S. rubra ssp. gulfensis 3---This is an extremely rare form, completely
missing anthocyanin. It comes from Santa Rosa Co., and is very vigorous.
A single juvenile crown is available for $12.

S. rubra ssp. gulfensis 4---This is the famous ``giant form'' from Okaloosa
Co., Florida. Ever a skeptic of giant forms (except the glorious S. minor),
I don't know if this really deserves the title. But it certainly is a
large and healthy grower.
A single juvenile crown is available for $5.

S. rubra ssp. gulfensis 5---This is a rare plant, found in Taylor Co., GA.
Those who study the species call this an ``ancestral form.''
A few juvenile/mature crowns are available for $6 each.

S. rubra ssp. jonesii 1---This is an extremely rare plant. This particular
specimen is delightful in growing nearly pure red in full light.
A few mature crowns are available for $10 each.

S. rubra ssp. wherryi 2---From Mobile Co., Alabama, this plant demonstrates
the characters typical of the species.
A single juvenile/mature crown is available for $4.

S. rubra ssp. wherryi 2---unlike the previous clone, this unique specimen
produces yellow-flowers which still have the strong strawberry smell
characteristic of this species.
A few crowns are available for $6 each.

S. rubra ssp. wherryi 7---a small plant of still unknown characteristics.
A single juvenile crown is available for $4.

Hybrids:

S. flava X S. purpurea---a vigourous and richly coloured specimen.
A few crowns are available for $4 each.

S. flava (throat splotch) X rubra gulfensis---a marvelous specimen that
produces almost flava-like pitchers but lovely large red flowers with a
strong strawberry tea scent. Marvelous.
A few crowns are available for $4 each.

S. alata X (flava X rubra)---a cross between my S. alata 1 and the previous
hybrid, I had little hope for the appearance of this cross but it is so
nice I kept it long after I gave away more than (literally) thousands of
other hybrids I made.
A single juvenile crown for $5.

S. leucophylla X psittacina---an exotic looking cross. Intensely coloured
white, red, and green.
A single crown is available for $5.
