Sarracenia Rooting

Here is my $0.02 on the rooting of Sarracenia. Once, many years ago I
purchased about 1/2 dozed Sarracenia's from P**** P**** Nursery. I
planted them in a peat/sand/sphagnum mix. After about 1 month I saw
no growth. I then looked at a few CP books and discovered that I had
planted the crowns too deep in the soil and used pots that were a
little undersized. I decided to repot. When I got the plants out of
the soil I discovered that although there had been no growth above
ground the plants had been (re)building their root systems in a big
way. What appeared to be an inactive plant was really very active,
you just could not see it.

I used no rooting hormone it was just the natural reaction of the
plant. It needed a strong root system to support pitcher production
so roots took priority over above ground growth.
