No, they were not. I saw pitchers of N. rajah, edwardsiana, villosa,
and lowii. All of these maintained their natural shape. Their
natural color was lost, of course; each specimen was brown. I handled
a few of them and they did not crumble in my fingertips I probably
could have crushed them to fragments if I had wanted to, but they
were not so fragile as to caution against handling.
