Here's a synopsis of the new March, 1996 CPN that arrived here today:

Cover photo: Pinguicula laueana flower
Back photo: Heliamphora minor growing on Auyan Tepui.

A 4-page ad insert from Andreas Wistuba was included.

Articles:
"The Savage Garden: Swelling the Brains of Children" by Peter D'Amato.

"The Growth of CPs on an Acidified Fen Soil" by Lubomir Adamec.

"Thoughts, Reflections, and Upper Nepenthes ampullaria Pitcher" by David
Wong. A photo of an N. ampullaria 'upper pitcher' is included (a tiny
pitcher only about a inch long). Also gives an account of the break-in
of two greenhouses, including David's greenhouse to steal CP. It is
stated the culprit was caught on video tape from a neighbor's security
camera but David hasn't pressed charges. I think the culprit ought to be
punished severely.

"Several Ecophysiological Observations in Genlisea" by Miloslav Studnicka.
Photos of G. hispidula and G. pygmaea are included.

"Noteworthy Sarracenia Collections II" by Phil Sheridan and Bill Scholl.

"Rediscovery of a Very Rare Utricularia in Brazil" and "Drosera
sessilifolia", both by Fernando Rivadavia. Photos of U. biovularioides
and D. sessilifolia (a sp. similar to D. burmanni) are included.

"The 1996 List of CP Books".

"Farewell Co-Editor ... Hello Ordinary Member!" by Don Schnell. Don
Schnell will retire from being co-editor at the end of this year.

The First ICPS international CP convention will take place in Atlanta
May 16-23, 1997.

Literature Review: in Acta Botanica Mexicana 28:57-62 a new Pinguicula
sp. is described: P. moctezumae, allied to P. gypsicola but with longer
strap-like leaves, semi-aquatic.
