I am not sure if the percentage actually is so high, but I do know
from my personal experiences, I have been trying to grow VFTs since I
was twelve. Each time, I did exactly what the little sticker on the
pot or container said to do, and each time, all the plants died.
Which looking back on it now, I realize that the labels were not
specific enough about growing these plants. Apparently, never give
up was my motto, and about 2 years ago I tried again to grow VFTs
with some other plants that I bought at a local nursery center. I
threw away the directions and headed for the local university library
and got my cultural information there. This winter was the first
winter that I had the nerve to actully full-heartedly winter my VFTs
and they survived and are growing better than ever.. I know, not so
exciting for some, but a wonderful feat for someone who has had
many casualties of VFTs since her late youth. I agree that there
needs to be more cultural education on growing CPs.
