Yellow Jackets and a red/black wasp consistently visited my Sarracenias last
summer (attracted to the moist sphagnum as much as the nectar, I think). Not
one chewed a hole in ascidia, however .... One species of wasp seemed to have
figured out the trick though ... I'd find it with one hind leg hooked over
the lip of my S. flavas and rubras so that it could dip FAR into the pitcher.
Only one got caught all year (by a VFT incidentally) while the others filled
up the pitchers with their remains.
