Well, Phil got you all going so I'll add some more to the discussion to
see if everyone can be more confused. When Phil discussed that we had
seen traps of differing shades of red we need to be clear that on the
majority of plants none of the traps were the same shades of the same
color of red! We saw plants in the same square foot of land not covered
by tall grass or trees have green traps (blows the "shade" postulation).
Some of the traps on the same plant showed deep red color and the older
and younger traps were dull green on the same plant (blows the genetic
postulation since each leaf should be genetically similar). So, keep
trying everyone. We want to know! What makes the flytrap trap red?
Thanks everyone. Also, please be non-scientific because we want to
understand the explanation well enough to tell others. However, if
someone has a good reference source for us to delve into we'd like to
